Closure
The end of high school also means the end of us, even though there hasn’t been an “us” for quite some time. When I say goodbye to the acquaintances, the classrooms, the teachers I want to be able to say goodbye to you because I refuse to carry this baggage any longer. Even though we haven’t spoken in about two years and I hate you with every fibre of my being, our relationship changed my whole life. I want to be able to have closure so I can finally move on. Maybe that’s why I haven’t been able to let you go, because I haven’t gotten closure. I don’t know the other side of the story but I have a feeling I never will. The only thing that scares me is the the fact that I may never be able to let you go. What if you permanently take up residence in my mind and I can’t kick you out? What if I can’t move on? What if? It’s been so long, I don’t even know what to say to you anymore. I guess I just want to know, did you even hesitate before betraying me? Did you suffer as much as I did or were you let off the hook easy? Did you ever think about my feelings before disclosing something so personal to your “friends”? Did you even love me? I hate the fact that you still have this power over me. You sure as hell don’t deserve to be in my life, then why can’t I stop you. Even when I hate you, you’re still technically on my mind. I feel so freaking foolish even writing this post. One thing I know is, you’ll never see it. We’ll just graduate and move on with our lives, but you’ll still haunt me as the ghost of my mistakes. Hopefully I’ll be strong enough to finally come to terms with my past. One day you’ll vanish and I’ll be happy. One day I’ll get closure.
